In this ad campaign Ralph Lauren used young adult models to convey their brand. The models are having a great time dressed in layers upon layers of Ralph Lauren. This ad used their synonymous color palette of rich purples, greens, blues and reds to accompany the fall season. The people look like they are college students along with their luggage signifies going back to school. This is a perfect Ralph Lauren ad because it depicts what the lifestyle is; the enjoyment of life and all the great things that accompany it decked out in Ralph Lauren.
Although no celebrities were in this campaign Ralph Lauren uses them often. Ralph Lauren made clothes for American Olympic athletes including the opening ceremony outfits so athletes were endorsed at that time. Actress Penelope Cruz is among other celebrity advertisements. Ralph Lauren is selective with who are in their ads to make sure they effortlessly flow together.
This campaign shows wealth, youth, happiness and above all a classic and effortless sense of style. The preppy side of me would love to be wearing an outfit one of the girls are which is exactly what the ad is intended to do-make me want to be in it.
